Miler is the indie alternative rock project of Calista Morgan, a Hastings-born artist now based in Brighton. Rooted in the confessional tradition, Miler draws from a steady diet of artists like Florence + The Machine, Wolf Alice, and Fleetwood Mac. The result is music that feels both expansive and intimate - driven by instinct, atmosphere, and an unflinching honesty, paired with a voice that deftly shifts between soaring, tender vocals and a guttural grit. With swirling indie born from Shoe Gaze and 90s Grunge influences, to Country tinged slowburners with War on Drugs-esque crescendos, Miler is for fans of Blondshell, Sharon Van Etten and Angel Olsen.
‘Calista’s vocals are effortlessly delivered and they’re powerful too’
- Nick Linazasoro
The name, Miler, comes from a racehorse term, describing a horse trained to run only a mile at a time. It’s an idea that resonates deeply with Morgan, reflecting a life and creative process shaped by intensity and focus. Rather than sprinting toward spectacle, Miler thrives in the measured pace. There’s a maturity at the core of the project, carefully honed over years of playing together across different bands and line-ups. That lived-in chemistry gives Miler a confidence that feels earned rather than forced.
‘Contemplative and considered, balancing craft and emotion’
